The bin guidance is guidance, not an authority
This app reads a product's packaging data from Open Food Facts and maps it onto a national recycling scheme. Local rules differ, and they change. Municipalities within the same country sort differently, packaging data can be incomplete or wrong, and a mapping that is right in one town can be wrong in the next.
Treat the answer as a well-informed starting point, not a ruling. Where it matters — and particularly where getting it wrong carries a fine — check your local council's own rules. Nothing here is a substitute for them.
Where the data comes from
Product and packaging data comes from Open Food Facts, a collaborative database made available under the Open Database License (ODbL). We do not own it, cannot vouch for any individual entry, and pass it on under that licence. Bin schemes are our own mapping onto that data.
Contributions
If you send a packaging material back to Open Food Facts through this app, you are contributing to their database under their terms and licence, using your own Open Food Facts account. We simply pass the contribution along. Contribute accurately — other people rely on it.
Fair use
Use the app normally and for its purpose. Do not attempt to disrupt it, scrape it in bulk, or use it to abuse the Open Food Facts API, which is a free community resource with its own terms.
No warranty, and the limits of liability
The service is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, incomplete or wrong at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the app or reliance on its guidance — including a disposal decision made on the strength of it.
Nothing here limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and law
These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them. They are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.
